WHAT IS TALKOUT

TalkOut offers events settings where attendees engage in compassionate conversations. From abstract concepts to current events, we engage in a wide range of topics. Our gatherings actively encourage “civil disagreement”, the sharing of opposing point-of-views, a way to foster a healthy exchange of ideas and — eventually — interpersonal and cross-cultural understanding.

We choose unique and interesting settings as the backdrop to our events. We actively invite people from a wide range of lived experiences. We then provide a loose structure for TalkOut’s moderated conversations and end each gathering by outlining the intersection between the ideas we have all shared.

MEET THE TALKOUT TEAM

  • Kibbs Fortilus

    FOUNDER

Born in Port Au Prince, Haiti then fleeing to America at the age of 4 years old, Kibbs has lived the life of a “third culture kid”. Yet, his adventures haven’t stop there. After graduating from The College of the Holy Cross, Kibbs taught in Tamil Nadu for a year, and then studied at the Freie University in Berlin, Germany for his Masters in European Society. While in Berlin, he conducted philosophical discussion events under the name, “#SymposiumBerlin”. He spent 7 years in Germany before returning back to the States in 2021.

  • Aviral Kapoor

    Aviral Kapoor

    Event Coordinator (European Division)

"Listen to Jordan Peterson in the morning, to inspire you to be active, focused, disciplined and productive. Then listen to Alan Watts in the evening to encourage you to let go, relax, and appreciate a day's work", one can often hear Aviral saying. This balanced perspective epitomizes the expat’s wise approach to life. A young Indian expat living in Germany, the young graduate, philosopher, and tech wiz can often be found in a Berlin basement reading his poetry, or penning a book - his most recent titled, "Journey of a Shallow Man".
